Introduction

The goal of InSitu is to make LAPPD™ tiles emulating the methods by which commodity PMT’s are made, i.e. using the pre-baked hermetic package itself, with UHV pumping from alkali vapors and the getter, as the UHV vessel, rather than working in a much larger volume with vacuum transfer as is usually done. We have made enough progress on the vacuum facility and the metallurgy and fabrication of the top seal that we think a review by experts is in order. The major remaining questions revolve around the photocathode synthesis, thermal profile constraints from both the topseal and the photocathode, and possibly unanticipated chemistry in a complex environment.

Charge

To review and assess the current progress, plans, and schedule; to identify problems; and, if possible, to suggest solutions and improvements. In short ‘Are we doing something stupid?’, and if so, ’Is there something else we can do?’
